There is always news articles saying this and that about the real estate market and then there is what is actually happening. You may have heard or read how "bad" the Real Estate Market is in across the country, but you need to know what its like where you are buying.Our Austin real estate market had been extremely strong the past two years while the rest of the country suffered Austin remained a “sellers” market up to the fall of 2007. At that point the market changed but is in nowhere as bad of shape as the rest of the country. There are outstanding bargains to be had in Austin right now, but there are many over priced properties as well so you need to now what you are doing. The market has slowed and prices have even fallen since September 2007. We still see the occasional multiple offer now however, but that is the exception, not the rule. Inventories have increased and average marketing times have increased, but there are still buyers in the market ready to buy good homes that are priced correctly.
